Won’t playing sports and being active be enough to keep me in shape?
Staying active between sessions, within reason, is important and strongly encouraged. Sports and other recreational activities can be very rewarding, and while they may provide some degree of “exercise effect”, the main goal of our program is to get you as strong as possible, in the safest manner and within the smallest time commitment. Sports do not provide this, and have a much higher chance of injury, especially if your muscles are not strong. Therefore, getting as strong as possible will have a protective effect for when you do play sports, if that is your chosen recreational activity. Put another way, “don’t play sports to get in shape, get in shape to play sports”.
